![]() Of course it can be made for a fraction of the cost, as can any antenna. Oh yes, and once you use it on the bands - remember the tap points on the coils and SWR will be a sweet distant memory - no ATU needed!Īaddrriiaann wrote:looks just like another center fed dipole compromise!ok so theres coils and a balun, and at that price it should be good, ( someone had to cut it to length with a hacksaw)its like most other things you look at chances are that the raw price isnt probably even a tenth of the cost!.oh yeh, and then you put 100watts through it.so it must be a good antenna and value for money!.think about it!īeautiful piece of kit - ok one might not want to pay a few hundred quid for what you say it is, but many have and it is a joy to behold - a fantastically built system oh and of course 100w helps - I believe a couple of s points over 5w - the same antenna works superbly with a battery operated 817 on 2.5 watts (16db or 2-3s points less lol). Check out the link below and read the testimonials and just look at the thing. This is the most intersting antenna I ever saw, and the build quality is awesome. still considerably cheaper than W&S were charging at the time. I imported from the manufacturer direct, and paid import duty etc. The whole kit folds into a tiny package (even easily fits the Micra's boot). basically it is a rotary dipole as mentioned with coils on both legs and various taps on the coil for the different bands. ok everything is 5/9 we know that.Ĭan't wait to try it on the hills on 27mhz - it covers all bands and if you buy the deluxe package, it comes with tripod/stand, extention pole, antenna, plugs, coils, whips etc. Actually purchased it around the time I stopped using the radio!īriefly tried it indoors on 7 & 40m with 5/9+ reports into Italy & Russia etc. I purchased one of these bad boys a few years ago having read fantastic reports.
